Collaborative showrooms, a trend in the textile and apparel industry

January 10, 2025

In the competitive world of apparel and textiles, showrooms have become a key tool for connecting with customers, strategically displaying products and reinforcing brand image. In addition, they allow demonstrating different competitive advantages such as operational capabilities, specialties in dyeing and fabric processing processes, and specialties in finished products, among others.

In the textile and apparel sector, display areas allow to highlight the unique qualities of fabrics, finishes and designs, offering an immersive experience to analyze details such as color fastness, dimensional stability and pills.

In 2023, the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) highlighted Guatemala’s apparel and textile industry as one of the top three apparel suppliers in the Western Hemisphere for U.S. brands.

U.S. companies are sourcing from the country or plan to do so in the region in the coming years, taking advantage of its strategic advantages. Guatemala has stood out for its integration and diversification, manufacturing increasingly specialized garments from all types of fabrics and with complex processes that add value to the finished product. This sophistication has made it possible to compete in categories such as active wear, casual wear, uniforms, work wear, and others.

This is why the Apparel and Textile Association -VESTEX- has created a collaborative Showroom in its offices. Find out all the details of this new exhibition space in this article.

A way to stand out in the business world

Showrooms facilitate the relationship between manufacturers and buyers. They are widely used in the apparel and textile industry to represent the capabilities and versatility of the products, allowing them to stand out in such a competitive industry:

  • Reinforce brand image: A well-designed apparel and textile showroom reflects the values and quality of a company, leaving a lasting impression on customers.
  • Foster business relationships: Exhibition areas are ideal spaces to interact with clients and establish connections that go beyond a simple transaction, such as investment projects or business alliances.
  • Promote differentiation: In a saturated market, these spaces offer a way to highlight the variety of products being manufactured, their finishes and capabilities or specialties by providing a unique experience.
  • Driving sustainability: Designing a showroom with recycled materials and displaying eco-friendly products demonstrates a company’s commitment to the environment, a value increasingly appreciated by brands and customers. In the apparel and textile industry, you can now find products made from recycled fibers, fibers created from pet bottles and even garments that were produced using less water and solar energy during the production process.

Collaborative showrooms

VESTEX has developed a showroom space for AGEXPORT/VESTEX members and partner companies to exhibit their exportable supply, offering international clients, buyers and suppliers the opportunity to learn about Guatemala’s potential.

There are companies in the apparel and textile sector that have their showrooms within their facilities, located in industrial areas of the country, however, many times meetings with potential customers are held in the city, far from their facilities.

A showroom or a “shared exhibition and promotion space” is another option to meet the objective. This is why VESTEX has taken the initiative to create a collaborative showroom available for apparel and textile companies that want to permanently exhibit their products, raw materials and finished garments. In this collaborative space it is possible to exhibit garments, yarn, thread, fabric samples and finishes, making it easier for potential customers to appreciate the quality and variety of the sector’s offer.
