Occupational Health and Safety
Occupational Health and Safety covers all aspects related to health and safety in the workplace, and pays special attention to the primary prevention of risks during the operation of the apparel and textile industry. Its objective is to prevent people from suffering accidents and injuries arising from work-related activities.
It is a discipline that focuses on promoting health protection. health health of workers, reducing occupational accidents and occupational diseases.
How is it fulfilled?
In compliance with Governmental Agreement 229-2014, which was created with the purpose of regulating the general rules to be observed at work in order to protect the life, health and integrity of workers.
This includes the implementation of an entire environment that protects the organization’s employees, i.e. an Occupational Health and Safety management system.

The legislation in force in our country determines and regulates health and safety in the workplace, as well as the international conventions ratified by Guatemala, which apply to occupational health and safety.

This agreement establishes the obligation of employers to keep a record of occupational accidents and occupational diseases occurring in the workplace and to report their occurrence on a monthly basis, as well as the non-occurrence of such accidents (0 accidents).
Agreement 1002 IGSS Board of Directors - Regulation on accident protection
Establishes the benefits in service or in cash to members for accidents, qualification and benefits.

International
Convention 119 - Convention on the Protection of Machinery
The use of machines that have any hazardous parts, including points of operation that do not have adequate protective devices, must be prohibited by national legislation or prevented by other measures that have the same effectiveness. Machines must be guarded in such a way as to comply with the regulations.
Convention 127 - Maximum Weight Convention
Employers shall take the necessary measures to ensure that all workers employed in the manual transport of cargo other than light loads receive, before starting such work, satisfactory training in the working methods to be used, in order to protect their health and prevent accidents.
Convention 148 - Working Environment Convention (Air Pollution, Noise and Vibration)
Convention concerning the protection of workers from occupational hazards due to air pollution, noise and vibration in the workplace.
Convention 161 - Occupational Health Services Convention
All member countries undertake to progressively establish occupational health services for all workers, including those in the public sector and members of production cooperatives, in all branches of economic activity and in all enterprises.
Convention 162 - Asbestos Convention
For workers exposed to asbestos in the workplace. The employer shall dispose of asbestos-containing waste in such a way that there is no risk to the health of the workers concerned, including those handling asbestos waste, or to the population in the vicinity of the company.
